Humans - Required Rest Time
Relaxation rest time vs. working time and activity.
Required rest or relaxation time related to working time and power expenditure can be estimated as:
tr = tt (qt - qm) / (qt - qr) (1)
where
tr = required relaxation or rest time (minutes)
tt = task or work time (minutes)
qt = task or work power consumption (W, watts)
qm = maximum power consumption level in a day with no recovery requirement (W, watts) (approximately 350 Watts for most male workers, approximately 300 W for most female workers)
qr = resting power consumption (W, watts) (commonly between 70 - 100 W)
Example - Required Relaxation Time
Required rest time for a male worker in very heavy work with task power consumption 600 W, resting powewr 100 W and task time 60 min, can be calculated as
tr = (60 min) ((600 W) - (350 W)) / ((600 W) - (100 W))
= 30 min
