Concrete Columns

Concrete is in general calculated in cubic yards (cy).

The concrete required for a column can be calculated as

v =  0.7854 a2 h / 27                             (1)

where

v = required concrete - cy (cu. yards)

a = column area (sq. ft.)

h = column height (ft)

  • 1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet
  • 1 ft = 12 in

Concrete required per 1 ft Column Height
