Electric Vehicle - Power and Charging Speed

Charging speed is "how many km or miles are added to the range during charging per hour" and can be calculated as

c = P / E           (1)

where

c = charging speed (km per hour, miles per hour)

P = charging power (kW)

E = the energy consumption of the car when driving (kWh/km, kWh/miles)

Example - Charging EV

An electric car with energy consumtion 20 kWh/100km (0.2 kWh/km) is charging on a fast charger with 45 kW power. The charging speed can be calculated as

c = (45 kW) / (0.2 kWh/km)

  = 225 km per hour

The same calculation as above but with single phase current (A) and voltage (V) as input instead of power (kW).
