Net Refrigeration Effect

Heat absorbed from refrigerated space

Net Refrigeration Effect

"the quantity of heat that each pound of refrigerant absorbs from the refrigerated space to produce useful cooling"

can be expressed as

NRE = hl - he    (1)

where

NRE = Net Refrigeration Effect (Btu/lb)

hl = enthalpy of vapor leaving evaporator (Btu/lb)

he = enthalpy of vapor entering evaporator (Btu/lb)
