Required Rest Time
Relaxation requirements to measures of fatigue

The equation below can be used to estimate required rest time in relation to work time and energy expenditure.
tr = tt (qt - qm) / (qt - qr) (1)
where
tr = required relaxation time (minutes)
tt = task time (minutes)
qt = task energy requirement (Watts)
qm = maximum daily energy level with no recovery requirement (approximately 350 Watts for most male workers, approximately 300 Watts for most female workers)
qr = resting energy (Watts) (commonly between 70 - 100 Watts)
Example - Required Relaxation Time
Required relaxation time for a male worker in very heavy work , task energy 600 W, resting energy 100 W and task time 60 min, can be calculated as
tr = (60 min) ((600 W) - (350 W)) / ((600 W) - (100 W))
= 30 min
