Discomfort Index

Based on dry bulb, wet bulb and dew point temperature

The Discomfort Index can be expressed as

DI = 0.4 (td + tw) + 15                           (1)

or alternatively

DI = 0.55 td + 0.2 tdp + 17.5                         (1b)

where

DI = Discomfort Index

td = dry bulb temperature (oF)

tw = wet bulb temperature (oF)

tdp = dew point temperature (oF)

The higher the value - the higher the value of discomfort.
