Yearly power costs operating an air compressor can be calculated as

C = P_bhp 0.746 c_kWh h_year / μ                (1)

where

C = total power costs per year (USD, - or actual currency)

P_bhp = compressor power (bhp)

c_kWh = cost per kWh (USD, - or actual currencey)

h_year = Operating hours per year (h)

μ = motor efficiency

Power costs count for typical 60-70% of the total operating costs. Fixed costs counts typical 10-20 % and other operating costs counts typical 15-25% of the total operating costs.
