Belt driven fans are common in heating, ventilation and cooling systems.

The speed of a belt driven fan versus the speed of the motor can be calculated as

d_f n_f = d_m n_m         (1)

where

d_f = pulley diameter fan (inch, mm)

n_f = speed of fan (rpm - rounds per minute)

d_m = pulley diameter motor (inch, mm)

n_m = speed of fan (rpm - rounds per minute)
